Real Montevideo recruits Cristian Zapata for Uruguayan fourth division

Real Montevideo, a club competing in Uruguay's Primera D (the fourth tier of football), has announced the signing of veteran Colombian defender Cristian Zapata. The 40-year-old, a former Colombian national team player with experience at clubs such as AC Milan, is returning from retirement to join the squad.

Club president Pedro del Campo confirmed the signing, stating that Zapata is expected to provide defensive solidity for the playoffs. The club is also pursuing other high-profile players to bolster its roster, including Panamanian forward Kahiser Lenis.

Management has indicated they are in advanced negotiations with several retired or veteran players, including Argentine figures Ariel ‘Burrito’ Ortega and Mariano ‘Tanque’ Pavone, as part of an ambitious strategy to increase the club's media presence and competitive standing.
