Real Oruro plays behind closed doors following racist insult sanctions
Real Oruro played its match against Real Potosí behind closed doors at the Jesús Bermúdez Torres Stadium following a sanction from the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) Discipline Tribunal. The decision was prompted by racist and discriminatory insults directed at striker Ángel Quiñónez by spectators during a previous match against Nacional Potosí on September 9.
In addition to the stadium ban, the club was hit with a fine of 15 national minimum wages. Real Oruro noted that this is the second consecutive instance where the club has faced sanctions due to the behavior of its fans, following a similar incident in July involving player Joao Quiñónez.
On the pitch, Real Potosí defeated Real Oruro 2-0. Luis Alí scored in the 35th minute, and Jefferson Rivas added a second goal in the 91st minute. The victory moves Real Potosí into fourth place with 32 points, while Real Oruro remains in eleventh place with 21 points.
