Botafogo bolsters squad with four signings and loans out striker Chris Ramos
Botafogo announced the acquisition of four players for the 2026 season. Left‑back Paulinho signed a contract through 2028 after leaving Danish side FC Midtjylland. Goalkeepers Gabriel Batista (until the end of 2029) and Warleson (until 2029) joined the club; Warleson arrived from Belgium’s Cercle Brugge for an estimated R$ 4 million, and the Belgian club issued a farewell statement for the player. Defender Lucas Monzón also signed a deal lasting until the end of 2029 after playing for Junior de Barranquilla in Colombia.
In a separate move, Botafogo loaned striker Chris Ramos to Spain’s Real Oviedo until June 2027. Oviedo will cover 100 % of the player’s salary and holds an option to purchase 80 % of his economic rights for about €4 million. The loan was confirmed by both clubs and reported in Spanish media as part of the striker’s return to European football.
