Real Sociedad seeks first Europa League win against Lillestrøm

Real Sociedad manager Pellegrino Matarazzo has declared victory as an “obligation” ahead of their UEFA Europa League group stage match against Lillestrøm SK in Norway. Following a loss to Bournemouth and a draw with Union Saint-Gilloise, the team is aiming for a top-eight finish to secure automatic advancement to the Round of 16.

Japanese midfielder Takefusa Kubo enters the match following a strong performance in La Liga against Málaga CF, where he recorded one goal and one assist in a 5-2 victory. While his recent form has improved, local media suggest he may start on the bench due to expected squad rotation. Matarazzo noted that the improving fitness and performance of various players allow for more tactical flexibility.

Spanish media have also highlighted the tactical synergy between Kubo and right-back Hector Fort. Reports suggest Fort’s attacking style has created more space and better coordination on the right flank, aiding Kubo’s ability to exploit defensive gaps.
