Real Zaragoza undergoes major squad overhaul to return to professional football
Real Zaragoza is undergoing a massive structural and squad overhaul following its relegation to the Primera RFEF. Under the leadership of sporting director Lalo Arantegui, the club has executed approximately 50 roster movements, including 33 departures and 15 new signings, in an effort to return to professional football.
Key additions to the squad include the return of Ander Herrera and the signing of Marco Sangalli. Other new arrivals include Rubén Díez, Jaume Jardí, Peter Ademo, Raúl Pereira, Anartz Peña, Sergio Escudero, Jokin Gabilondo, Sem Westerveld, Emil Hansson, Edu Espiau, Diego González, Joaquín Delgado, Rubén Iranzo, and Óscar Ureña.
The rebuilding process follows a period of significant turnover, where 25 players departed immediately after the relegation. The club has also sought to stabilize its finances through player sales, including transfers involving Álex Gomes, Juan Sebastián, Samed Bazdar, Adrián Liso, and Francho Serrano.
