Realitatea Plus viewership drops 40% following Călin Georgescu conflict

Realitatea Plus experienced a significant decline in viewership during July, losing approximately 40% of its audience compared to June. The news station's prime-time average dropped to roughly 94,000 viewers from nearly 150,000, causing it to fall to ninth place in the national rankings.

The decline follows a public conflict between moderator Anca Alexandrescu and Călin Georgescu. Following accusations from Georgescu regarding censorship and claims that his presence was used solely for ratings, the station decided to boycott his coverage until he issued a public apology. The network stated that respecting its viewers was more important than maintaining high audience numbers.

While other major news stations like România TV, Antena 3 CNN, and Digi24 also saw decreases in viewership, the drop at Realitatea Plus was notably sharper than its competitors.
