Realty Income Corporation sees surge in call-option trading
Realty Income Corporation has seen significant activity in both institutional holdings and options trading. Envestnet Asset Management Inc. reduced its stake in the real estate investment trust by 5.5% during the second quarter, leaving the fund with approximately 1.89 million shares.
Despite some institutional selling, the company has experienced unusually high call-option activity. Investors purchased 18,819 call options recently, representing a 256% increase over the typical daily volume of 5,290 contracts. This surge in options trading is often viewed as a bullish market signal.
Analyst sentiment remains mixed. While Jefferies Financial Group issued a “buy” rating with a $69.00 target, others like Barclays and Royal Bank of Canada have recently adjusted their price targets downward. The current consensus rating for the stock is “Hold” with an average target price of $66.23.
Strategically, the company is implementing a “Realty 3.0” plan, which focuses on capital-light growth through strategic partnerships, such as one with GIC, to drive growth and improve returns on equity.
