Rear‑end collisions near Lelystad cause traffic jams in the Netherlands

Two rear‑end collisions occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Lelystad area. The first incident happened around 16:10 on the Oostvaardersdijk between Almere and Lelystad, involving three passenger cars. No one was injured; ambulance personnel checked the occupants and no hospital transport was needed. The crash caused minor traffic delay.

Ten minutes later, at about 16:20, a second collision took place near the Houtribsluizen at the start of the Markerwaarddijk toward Enkhuizen, where four cars collided in a chain‑reaction crash. Traffic could only pass the site in alternating directions, leading to long queues on the bridge and the Houtribweg. Again, no injuries were reported, and a towing company removed the damaged vehicles, allowing the road to reopen.

Both accidents were attended by emergency services, but none of the drivers required hospital treatment.
