Reba McEntire reveals missed final call from Dolly Parton

Country music singer Reba McEntire has revealed that she missed a final phone call from longtime friend Dolly Parton shortly before Parton’s death. McEntire told Entertainment Tonight that Parton called in late July, but she was unable to answer because she was in a meeting. Despite attempts to return the call, the two were never able to reconnect.

Dolly Parton passed away on August 25 at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer. She died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. McEntire, who has maintained a friendship with Parton for decades, expressed her regret over the missed connection, stating, “I’ll never know why she called me,” but added that she hopes to find out one day.

McEntire has previously honored Parton’s legacy, including a performance of “Appalachian Memories” at the Emmy Awards. The two icons shared a deep bond that included professional collaborations and personal support, such as when Parton offered her band to McEntire following a tragic plane crash in 1991.
