Rebeca de Souza Murdered Before Her 4-Year-Old Son in Goiás Over Alleged Drug Debt
A 29‑year‑old entrepreneur, Rebeca de Souza, was stabbed to death in the Guaíra neighbourhood of Águas Lindas de Goiás, Brazil, while attempting to mediate a dispute over an alleged drug‑related debt attributed to her brother. The attack occurred in broad daylight in front of her four‑year‑old son, who witnessed the violence.
According to local reports, a man arrived demanding the brother’s payment, and Rebeca offered her mobile phone as partial settlement. The assailant then drew a bladed weapon and repeatedly slashed her, causing fatal chest injuries. Police say the suspect fled the scene with a woman he lived with and a manhunt is underway to locate him and clarify the motive.
Authorities continue to collect testimonies to confirm whether the homicide was indeed linked to the purported drug debt, while the community expresses shock at the brutal nature of the crime.
