Rebecca Yarros announces Fourth Wing graphic novel adaptation

Author Rebecca Yarros has announced that her bestselling fantasy series, Empyrean, is being adapted into graphic novels. The first installment, ‘Fourth Wing: The Graphic Novel (Volume 1)’, is scheduled for release on April 6, 2027.

Due to the length of the original story, the first graphic novel will cover approximately the first half of the book, spanning chapters 1 through 22. A second volume will complete the adaptation of ‘Fourth Wing’. This format will also apply to subsequent books in the series, ‘Iron Flame’ and ‘Onyx Storm’, with each novel being split into two volumes, totaling six graphic novels for the three existing books.

Illustrated by artist Anabel Mayet Rossi, the adaptation will maintain the mature (18+) tone of the original novels. The official announcement confirmed that AI was not used in the creation of the artwork. Various editions will be available, including standard hardcover, paperback, and e-book formats, as well as retailer-exclusive covers and a limited deluxe edition featuring metallic foil and an exclusive art print.

In addition to the graphic novel project, Yarros is continuing work on the Empyrean series and a collection of short stories titled ‘Threshing Day’. An Amazon television adaptation is also currently in development.
