Rebel Wolves’ Blood of Dawnwalker introduces folklore‑inspired races
The upcoming fantasy action‑RPG Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Polish studio Rebel Wolves, departs from typical Tolkien‑style races. Its world features the sanzhana – imp‑like, tooth‑stealing pixies with blue skin and white markings – and the uriashi, towering beast‑like humanoids that work alongside humans. Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz explained that the sanzhana draw on folklore tropes while adding a twist, noting they “play on a lot of tropes around pixies from folklore, but of course with our own twist.”
The game’s core mechanic revolves around a time‑limit system, and the developers used the sanzhana to create quests that let players “play with the time limit,” giving moments of unexpected change within the otherwise strict temporal rules. Rebel Wolves has built a distinct culture for these new races, aiming to offer fresh exploration for players.
