Rebibbia prison artistic and social initiatives highlighted in Rome

The Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome is hosting an exhibition for the BENU project, running from September 23 to November 28, 2026. Created by artist Eugenio Tibaldi, the project originated within the Rebibbia Women's Prison and aims to foster dialogue between incarcerated individuals and the broader community through art and participation.

The exhibition showcases a permanent site-specific work inaugurated at the prison during the 2025 Jubilee. The project involved a co-design process where incarcerated women participated in workshops to help define the work's imagery, using art as a tool for expression and transformation.

In a related social initiative at the Rebibbia facility, the fourth edition of the ‘Triangolare del Sorriso’ football tournament was held. The event featured the Miss Mamma Italiana National Football Team, a team of prison police agents, and a team of incarcerated women. The initiative provided winter clothing, personal care items, and supplies for children living with their mothers at the facility.
