Rebirth targets 2026 as pivotal year for Peugeot Cycles, Solex and Gitane
The French investment group Rebirth, led by president Grégory Trebaol, says 2026 will be a turning point for its portfolio of historic bike brands. Rebirth now controls Peugeot Cycles, Solex, Gitane, Matra, Lejeune and Easybike and plans to expand Peugeot Cycles with a broader range aimed at export markets, including Japan. A new Solex electric model will be unveiled at the EICMA show later in the year, while Matra will receive a fully Yamaha‑powered drivetrain and the Easybike line will be refreshed for the upcoming season.
Trebaol outlined an ambitious production target of 150,000‑200,000 units annually, backed by a 29,000 m² factory capable of injecting bike frames in three minutes. The group emphasizes sustainable manufacturing, regenerative braking systems, composite frames and advanced connectivity across its new product lines. Rebirth’s strategy focuses on reviving dormant French marques rather than launching generic “me‑too” products, aiming to combine heritage with modern electric mobility for urban and corporate leasing customers.
