Rebirth wins Gioco dell’Anno 2026 board game award

The board game Rebirth, designed by Reiner Knizia, has been named the Gioco dell’Anno 2026 winner. The award was presented during the Lucca Comics and Games festival at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca.

Rebirth is a competitive tile-placement game for two to four players. Players aim to rebuild a civilization in harmony with nature following a series of calamities. The game features mechanics allowing players to compete as clan leaders in either Scotland or Ireland, utilizing different map developments and rule variations for point accumulation.

In addition to the main prize, Paolo Mori was named Board Game Designer of the Year 2026. The Role-Playing Game of the Year 2026 award was given to Legend in the Mist by Isola Illyon Edizioni.
