Recaro Rail to supply 40,000 seats to FlixTrain

Recaro Rail has secured an order to supply more than 40,000 Vela passenger seats to FlixTrain, an expanding European intercity rail operator. The delivery program is scheduled to begin in 2026 and will continue through the end of 2028.

The agreement follows a dual-phase implementation strategy. The first phase involves a refurbishment program to replace existing seats in current FlixTrain wagons. The second phase involves installing the seats into new high-speed trains that FlixTrain plans to introduce to its fleet by 2028.

The Vela Pax seats are designed to optimize passenger comfort and operational efficiency. Key features include an ergonomic curved backrest, multiple recline positions, and lightweight materials to assist with fuel efficiency. To enhance the passenger experience, the seats will include built-in reading lamps, large foldable tables, and multiple USB ports and power outlets. For the refurbishment program, seats will be light gray, while the new trains will feature light green and anthracite colored seating.
