Receita Federal identifies tax discrepancies in 3,455 companies

The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) has launched a new edition of the Digital Tax Audit (Malha Fiscal Digital) to address discrepancies in PIS and Cofins tax declarations. The agency identified inconsistencies between declared debts and calculated values for 3,455 legal entities, totaling approximately 300 million reais.

Taxpayers have until October 30, 2026, to regularize these inconsistencies through electronic cross-referencing of the Federal Tax Debts and Credits Declaration (DCTF) and the Digital Tax Bookkeeping for Contributions (EFD-Contribuições). If the issues are not resolved by the deadline, companies will face tax inspections and the issuance of infraction notices, which may include a 75% fine plus interest and other applicable penalties.

Notifications regarding the discrepancies have been sent via postal mail and through the e-CAC (Virtual Service Center) portal. Large taxpayers are being notified through the e-Mac channel.
