Recep Düzgit announces candidacy for İMEAK Chamber of Shipping Chair

Recep Düzgit, Vice Chairman of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping, has announced his candidacy for Chamber Chairman in the elections scheduled for October 11, 2026. During a member meeting in Istanbul, Düzgit outlined his vision, emphasizing digital transformation, legislative work, and investments tailored to industry needs.

Düzgit highlighted the Chamber's financial growth over the past eight years, noting that assets increased from $17.5 million to $40 million and the budget rose from $24 million to $36.5 million. He also mentioned plans to expand the Chamber's owned property by adding a service building in Karadeniz Ereğli. Additionally, he noted the growth of Piri Reis University, which has seen its student body increase significantly since 2018.

Tamer Kıran, the current Chairman, announced he will not seek re-election and expressed his support for Düzgit. Kıran emphasized the importance of maintaining institutional continuity and the work culture established during his two terms, stating that the upcoming election is a critical period for carrying the Chamber's institutional accumulation into the future.
