Recep Tayyip Erdoğan College in Comrat faces opening delays

The Recep Tayyip Erdoğan College in Comrat, a Moldovan-Turkish educational project, faces delays in opening due to administrative hurdles and political disputes. The facility was constructed with approximately $4 million in support from Turkey and is situated on a five-hectare site featuring modern training buildings and sports complexes.

Valentin Gaidarji, President of the Gagauzia People's Assembly, has called for the urgent acceleration of procedures required to put the college into operation. He has convened meetings with executive representatives and construction officials to address the remaining authorizations and staff recruitment processes needed to open the doors to students.

Despite the building being largely completed, disputes between Chișinău and Comrat regarding administration and the language of instruction have stalled progress. While the government has approved the institution's establishment with admissions planned for 2026, current delays may push the official start of activities to September 2027.
