Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Turkish International School to open in Damascus

The Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Turkish International School is set to open in the Artuz region of Damascus on October 4. Developed as part of an educational cooperation initiative between Turkey and Syria, the school will operate under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of National Education.

The facility features 36 classrooms and is designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 students. It will provide a full range of educational levels, including kindergarten, primary school, middle school, and high school. While the opening ceremony will take place this Sunday, the school is scheduled to officially begin serving students starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

The project aims to support access to quality education for children and youth in Syria, facilitate the integration of children from families returning to the country, and strengthen historical, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Turkey and Syria through educational diplomacy.
