Oeiras do Pará launches 37th Festival do Camarão

The 37th edition of the Festival do Camarão began on Thursday, 30 July 2026 in Oeiras do Pará, the main municipality of Brazil’s Marajó archipelago. Organized by the municipal government with support from the state, the four‑day event runs through Sunday, 2 August, showcasing shrimp‑focused gastronomy, music shows, cultural performances, contests and entrepreneurship activities.

The program features national and regional artists such as Henry Freitas, Tiago Costa, Pablo, Super Pop, Banda Kawê, Viviane Batidão and Tarcísio do Acordeon. Organizers estimate around 30 000 visitors, describing the festival as a key driver of tourism and local income, while also preserving the marajoara cultural identity.

The festival’s highlights include live concerts, a Miss and Mister FestCam pageant, shrimp‑eating contests, culinary competitions and a traditional shrimp‑fishing procession, all aimed at promoting the region’s culinary and cultural heritage.
