Recife hosts production of Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’

The Cobogó das Artes school is presenting a production of Anton Chekhov’s classic play, ‘The Seagull’, at the Teatro Hermilo Borba Filho in Recife. The performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 PM.

Directed, adapted, and cast by Madu Melo, this Pernambucan production offers a playful and dynamic approach to the late 19th-century text. The play explores the timeless conflicts of four artists—Kóstia, Nina, Arkádina, and Trigórin—as their ambitions, desires, and frustrations collide following a decision to stage an experimental play.

The cast includes Sílvio Nilo, Carolina Kausch, Tayná Camilli, Ziel Almeida, Sofia Patu, Pedro Simba, Heitor Victor, and Lúcia Selene. Tickets are priced at R$ 25 for half-price and R$ 50 for full price.
