Recife hosts upcoming theatrical productions by Vera Holtz and Fernanda Torres

Recife will host two significant theatrical productions in the coming months. The multimedia adaptation of Albert Camus’s classic, ‘The Stranger’ (O Estrangeiro), will be performed on August 15 and 16 at the Teatro Luiz Mendonça. Directed by Vera Holtz and starring Guilherme Leme Garcia as Meursault, the play explores themes of existence, freedom, and the conflict between the individual and societal norms.

In September, actress Fernanda Torres will bring her monologue ‘The House of the Blessed Budas’ (A Casa dos Budas Ditosos) to the Teatro Guararapes on September 2 and 3. Based on the novel by João Ubaldo Ribeiro and directed by Domingos de Oliveira, the performance features Torres portraying a 68-year-old woman recounting her life experiences regarding desire, morality, and sexuality. This return to the stage follows Torres’s recent international recognition for her role in the film ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’.
