Recife launches R$ 9.6 million slope containment project
The Recife City Hall has launched a R$ 9.6 million slope containment and drainage project on Rua Córrego do Curió in the Dois Unidos neighborhood. The intervention, managed by the Recife Urbanization Authority (URB), aims to protect approximately 100 families, totaling more than 500 residents, from landslide risks.
The technical scope of the project includes soil stabilization through nearly 2,000 soil nails, mortar mesh, and biomantas. To manage rainwater and prevent erosion, the works include the installation of 433 meters of drainage channels and the construction of four retaining walls totaling 372.40 m². Additionally, the project features 300 m² of concrete flooring, 311 meters of guardrails, and the creation of a new leisure area for the local community. The project is expected to be completed by the first half of 2027.
