Recife ranks among Brazil's top destinations for sports tourism

Recife has emerged as a significant destination for sports tourism in Brazil. According to data from Melhores Destinos based on Google searches between August 2025 and July 2026, the Pernambuco capital ranks among the ten most searched Brazilian cities by athletes traveling for competitions.

Recife recorded 21,060 searches during this period, placing it ninth in the national ranking. The list is led by Rio de Janeiro, followed by Porto Alegre and São Paulo. Experts note that the trend of combining vacations with athletic events is consolidating, as runners often extend their stays to enjoy local culture and infrastructure.
