Recklinghausen tax office expands digital ELSTER services

The Recklinghausen tax office in North Rhine-Westphalia is expanding its digital services by providing tax documents via the ELSTER platform starting October 5. This move allows citizens and tax advisors to access tax assessments, explanatory letters, and certificates digitally, eliminating postal transit times.

Recklinghausen, which serves the cities of Castrop-Rauxel, Datteln, Oer-Erkenschwick, Recklinghausen, and Waltrop, is among the first in the region to implement this service, alongside Velbert, Höxter, Warburg, and Dortmund-Unna. This initiative is part of a broader transition toward nationwide digital tax administration expected to be completed by 2027.

To receive documents digitally, users must provide one-time consent through their ELSTER account. Once a document is available in the ELSTER mailbox, recipients will receive an email notification.
