Recommended Sunnah practices for the day of Friday
Friday is considered one of the most virtuous days in Islam, characterized by specific recommended acts of worship (Sunnah) based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.
Key recommended practices include performing ritual bathing (Ghusl), applying perfume, wearing fine clothing, and using the Siwak (tooth-stick). It is also encouraged to arrive early to the Friday prayer, walk to the mosque if possible, and listen attentively to the sermon.
Other significant spiritual activities include reciting Surah Al-Kahf—specifically the last ten verses to seek protection from trials—increasing prayers upon the Prophet, and seeking the 'hour of response' (Sa'at al-Istijabah), which is often identified as the period after the Asr prayer.
