Reconquista seeks to restore fluvial connection with Goya
Authorities in Reconquista, Argentina, are exploring a new project to restore a fluvial connection between Goya and Reconquista. The initiative aims to replace a 500-kilometer land route with a ferry service, which would reduce costs and travel time for local businesses.
Following unsuccessful attempts with the Army and previous ferry operations that ceased during the pandemic, a new proposal has emerged through the Mercosur Chamber of Commerce. Two Paraguayan entrepreneurs specializing in river cabotage have expressed interest in the project. The proposal is currently in an evaluation stage, with technical teams expected to conduct river bathymetry to assess depth and infrastructure suitability.
