Reconstruction of Francisca Cadenas murder scheduled for Sept 14 in Spain

Spanish authorities will carry out a reconstruction of the 2017 murder of Francisca Cadenas on 14 September in Hornachos, Badajoz. The event will include a reenactment of the path taken by her youngest son, José Antonio Meneses, on the night of the disappearance, and an inspection of the house where the two brothers suspected of the crime are detained to verify whether a burial well exists.

The suspects, brothers Julián (also referred to as Julio) and Manuel González, have been in provisional detention since March 2026 after the discovery of the victim’s skeletal remains in their home. They have refused to cooperate with the reconstruction unless Manuel is released, a demand the family’s lawyer and the prosecution have rejected. The investigation, led by the UCO, continues its evidentiary phase while the family seeks a conviction that reflects the severity of the crime.
