Record temperatures reported in El Salvador and Peru

Extreme temperature records have been broken in parts of El Salvador and Peru due to ongoing climatic conditions.

In El Salvador, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) reported that two weather stations in Morazán surpassed historical maximum temperature records. On September 9, San Francisco Gotera reached 40.5 °C, exceeding the previous record of 39.5 °C set in 1987. Additionally, the Perquín station recorded 31.7 °C, surpassing the previous September record of 30.1 °C from 2015.

In Peru, the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) reported that Lima is experiencing temperatures significantly higher than usual due to the El Niño Costero phenomenon. Anomalies of up to +9.0 °C have been observed. On September 8, the Alexander Von Humboldt station in La Molina recorded a maximum temperature of 29.0 °C, breaking the previous record of 27.5 °C set in 1997. The Campo de Marte station in Jesús María also established new monthly records for both maximum and minimum temperatures.
