Recreo residents protest sewage runoff from ISEP facility

Residents of the Liceo neighborhood in Recreo are protesting the ongoing runoff of sewage into street gutters, specifically along Saavedra Lamas street. The issue stems from the Instituto de Seguridad Pública (ISEP), located at the former Military Lyceum General Belgrano, which lacks a connection to the sewage network.

For years, the institution has relied on septic tanks for effluent treatment. Neighbors report that overflowing tanks have caused liquids to seep into adjacent residential areas, leading to foul odors and the presence of rodents. While infrastructure works for a new penitentiary unit were expected to provide a sewage connection for the ISEP site, the connection has yet to be implemented.
