Recruiters Cite AI and 'No‑Phone Generation' as Major Hiring Obstacles

Scottish construction recruiter Donald Wynn, managing director of C&P Recruitment, says many young candidates now avoid phone calls, communicate only by text and submit AI‑written CVs. This limits employers' ability to assess personality, motivation and communication skills, prompting a call for clearer job descriptions and greater support for candidates.

In the United Arab Emirates, Mahesh Shahdadpuri of TASC Outsourcing and Avinav Nigam, founder and CEO of TERN Group, note that recruiters are overwhelmed by hundreds of applications filtered through AI screening tools. Generic CVs are increasingly ignored, and hiring fell 23 % in April‑May, with entry‑level positions hit hardest amid regional geopolitical uncertainty.
