Recruitment challenges emerge in Brazil regarding AI bias and candidate attrition
Recent analyses and research highlight evolving challenges in the Brazilian labor market, specifically regarding recruitment technology and candidate retention.
An academic study examines the risks of algorithmic discrimination as companies increasingly adopt artificial intelligence and automated tracking systems (ATS) for hiring. While these tools offer efficiency and scale, they can reconfigure discriminatory practices through opaque statistical biases, potentially violating fundamental labor rights and impacting social mobility.
Simultaneously, a survey by Pandapé reveals that 78.7% of HR professionals and managers have faced candidate withdrawals during selection processes in the last year. The primary driver for abandonment is the acceptance of competing job offers (42.9%), followed by uncompetitive salaries (14.3%) and work models (13%). Data shows that 35% of companies experience the highest concentration of dropouts during the interview stages, prompting experts to suggest that companies must improve communication speed to maintain professional interest.
