Recruitment trends show AI impact and demand for human contact

Recent surveys highlight shifting dynamics in the recruitment process driven by artificial intelligence and candidate expectations. An OpinionWay survey for ICIMS indicates that while 86% of candidates value speed, only 31% consider it very important. Instead, the lack of communication is a primary driver of dissatisfaction, with 64% of candidates reporting they have been “ghosted” by recruiters. Furthermore, 95% of respondents emphasize the importance of maintaining human contact during the hiring process.

Regarding the impact of generative AI, a OnePoll survey of 200 French HR professionals reveals a paradox in the use of cover letters. Approximately 68% of recruiters perceive that cover letters have become more uniform due to AI usage. Despite this perceived loss of individuality, 71% of recruiters state that cover letters still hold significant weight in their decision-making process, with many viewing them as essential context for a CV.
