Rector Dámaso Anaya Opens Correbasket UAT Inaugural LNBP Series

The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) hosted the opening of the 2026 Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) season at its Multidisciplinary Gymnasium in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico. Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado presided over the ceremony, joining youth player Mauricio Cárdenas Ledezma and urging the Correbasket UAT team to represent the university with pride.

Correbasket UAT faced visiting team Santos del Potosí before a packed crowd. The event highlighted growing student participation in professional basketball, with players such as Iván Cruz and Francisco Javier Barrón featured. Attendees also supported the “Impulsando Corazones” school‑supply drive for rural students. The match concluded with a win for the visitors, and a second game is scheduled for Saturday, 1 August 2026.
