Recursion and Tempus AI extend data partnership through 2029

Recursion Pharmaceuticals and Tempus AI have extended their data partnership through November 2029. Under an amended agreement, Recursion will pay Tempus $42 million over the next three years for access to de-identified clinical and molecular records.

In a separate component of the collaboration, Tempus will pay Recursion $12 million over two years to license Recursion’s TxFM RNA foundation model. This provides Tempus with a non-exclusive, worldwide license to the sequencing model.

Separately, Tempus AI CEO Eric Lefkofsky reported that the company’s data-licensing business grew approximately 36% in the most recent quarter, adding roughly $200 million in total contract value. Lefkofsky attributed this growth to increased investments by biopharmaceutical companies in artificial intelligence and computing infrastructure. He also noted that the diagnostics business remains the company’s largest line, supported by durable demand for genomic profiling and liquid biopsy testing.
