Red Arrows eliminate Kaizer Chiefs from CAF Confederation Cup

Zambian side Red Arrows secured a place in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup group stage after defeating South African giants Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on penalties. Although Chiefs won the second leg 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to level the aggregate score at 1-1, they were unable to find a decisive second goal in regulation time.

Bradley Cross scored the lone goal for Chiefs in the 66th minute following a free-kick from Mfundo Vilakazi. However, the shootout saw Chiefs miss three attempts from Lebohang Maboe, Reeve Frosler, and Ethan Chislett, while Red Arrows maintained composure to advance.

In related football news, Orlando Pirates secured their berth in the CAF Champions League group stage with a 4-0 victory over Namibia’s African Stars, winning 5-0 on aggregate. This sets the stage for a high-profile Soweto Derby between Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on October 31.
