Red Arrows cancel UK airshow dates due to Atlantic weather delays

The Royal Air Force (RAF) aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows, has been forced to cancel three scheduled UK appearances due to delays in their Atlantic crossing. The team is currently grounded in north-eastern Canada following challenging weather patterns that prevented their planned transit.

The cancellations affect the Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week. Because the team’s Hawk aircraft have a limited range and cannot undergo air-to-air refuelling, the return from their US tour requires a specific multi-stage route through Canada, Greenland, and Iceland.

While waiting for more favourable conditions to resume the crossing, personnel are conducting scheduled engineering work at Canadian Forces Base Goose Bay to expedite their return to the public display programme once travel is cleared.
