Red Arrows defeat Kaizer Chiefs in CAF Confederation Cup first leg

Zambian side Red Arrows secured a 1-0 victory over South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie. Alassane Diarra scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, giving the hosts a crucial advantage heading into the second leg.

Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe expressed satisfaction with his team's performance but noted they should have scored at least three goals to secure a more commanding lead. He emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency ahead of the return match.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz expressed confidence that his side can overturn the deficit in the second leg at FNB Stadium. Da Cruz criticized the pitch conditions for hindering his team's ability to execute their tactical model and noted that the loss extends the club's winless streak in all competitions to four matches.
