Red Bull appoints Tom Hart as Max Verstappen's race engineer for 2027

Red Bull Racing confirmed that Tom Hart will replace Gianpiero Lambiase as Max Verstappen's race engineer, effective for the 2027 Formula 1 season. Lambiase is set to join McLaren as chief racing officer by 2028 after a period of gardening leave, prompting Red Bull to reshuffle its engineering staff. Hart, previously considered for a race‑engineer role at Williams, will begin transitioning during the 2026 season to gain experience.

Team principal Laurent Mekies said the change will occur regardless of Verstappen's future plans, noting that most personnel remain within the garage despite recent rumors of departures. At the time of the announcement, Verstappen was seventh in the drivers' standings, 113 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
