Red Bull begins transition as Lambiase prepares for McLaren move

Red Bull Racing has begun a phased transition to replace race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, who is set to join McLaren by 2028. To protect sensitive technical information, the team is gradually distancing Lambiase from key engineering meetings.

Tom Hart will debut as Max Verstappen’s race engineer at the United States Grand Prix, managing the radio communications for the upcoming rounds in Austin, Brazil, and Las Vegas. Lambiase is expected to remain on-site to handle race engineering duties for the Mexico City, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix before his full departure.

The partnership between Verstappen and Lambiase has resulted in 73 Grand Prix victories and four world titles. While the duo is the second most successful driver-engineer pairing in F1 history, the transition makes it mathematically impossible for them to surpass the record of 83 wins held by Lewis Hamilton and Peter Bonnington.
