Red Bull Racing praises Liam Lawson amid 2027 driver evaluations

Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies has praised Liam Lawson’s performance following his recent stint in Formula 1. Lawson was called up to replace Isack Hadjar after the latter suffered a fractured wrist during training ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.

Lawson has demonstrated strong form during his interim appearances, scoring points in two of his three races. His results include a seventh-place finish in Zandvoort and a sixth-place finish in Madrid, alongside an eighth-place finish in Spain. Mekies noted that Lawson has done “very, very, very strong” work, highlighting the difficulty of adapting to a new team and car.

These performances come at a critical time as Racing Bulls evaluates its driver lineup for the 2027 season. Meanwhile, Isack Hadjar, a former Red Bull Junior Team member and 2024 Formula 2 runner-up, continues his progression within the Red Bull ecosystem after his injury-induced absence.
