Red Bull's Austrian upgrades hailed as potential season changer
Red Bull Racing introduced a major aerodynamic and weight‑saving package on the RB22 at the Austrian Grand Prix. Simulator driver Sébastien Buemi said the upgrades “worked well” and believed they could have enabled Max Verstappen to win the race, adding that if the car had possessed that level of performance from the start of the season “the championship could have taken a completely different turn.” Buemi stressed that progress must outpace rivals, noting that even small time gains are irrelevant if competitors improve more.
Max Verstappen, while acknowledging the gains, remained cautious. He said “we have made good progress, but that’s how it has been since the start of the season,” and warned that other top teams, especially Ferrari, continue to develop new parts. Verstappen emphasized the need to keep optimizing the package to maintain podium chances each weekend.
