Red Cross base in Valle de Santiago attacked and vandalized

A Red Cross base in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, was attacked by a group of individuals during the early hours of Friday. According to reports, approximately three men arrived in a sedan around 1:00 a.m. and began behaving aggressively toward the staff on duty, including administrative volunteers.

After an initial confrontation, the individuals returned to the facility with increased aggression, causing significant damage and destruction to the premises. During the incident, a volunteer attempted to mediate the situation to prevent further escalation but was physically assaulted by the attackers.

The Salamanca Delegation of the Mexican Red Cross issued a statement condemning the violence, intimidation, and threats against its personnel. The institution emphasized that no circumstance justifies violence against humanitarian workers and announced it will pursue legal and administrative actions to identify and hold those responsible accountable.
