Red Cross celebrates 150 years in Denmark with event in Kolding

The Red Cross and Kolding Municipality are hosting a large-scale anniversary celebration in Kolding to mark 150 years of the organization's presence in Denmark. The event, held at Godset Ujnfor, is open to the public and aims to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism.

The festivities include music from acts such as La La Ladies and Rattlesnake, a fashion show featuring designer clothing made from recycled materials, food, and activities like first aid demonstrations. The celebration serves as part of a nationwide jubilee year that includes five public meetings across the country.

Beyond the entertainment, the event focuses on the role of the approximately 43,000 volunteers in Denmark who serve as visiting friends, patient supporters, and crisis responders. Discussions will also address the future of volunteering and its importance in combating loneliness and social malaise within the welfare society.
