Red Cross medical vehicle involved in head-on collision in Italy

A Red Cross medical vehicle was involved in a head-on collision on the Ravello-Chiunzi provincial road in Italy on August 21. The accident occurred around 2:15 PM in the Passo area, involving a black Cupra and a Fiat Punto used as an ambulance by the Croce Rossa Italiana (CRI) of the Amalfi Coast.

Erika Naomi Riccardi, president of the Amalfi Coast CRI Committee, confirmed that the medical vehicle was returning to its base after completing a service and that no patients or civilians were on board at the time of the impact. Only the volunteer driver was in the vehicle.

Local authorities are currently investigating the exact dynamics of the crash to determine responsibility. The Red Cross has expressed support for both the volunteer and the driver of the other vehicle involved.
