Red Cross of Serbia holds national first aid competition

The Red Cross of Serbia has launched its national first aid competition for volunteers at the Belgrade Athletics Hall in Banjica. The event, themed ‘The Importance of First Aid in Everyday Life Circumstances’, is the organization’s largest annual manifestation and is patronized by the Serbian Ministry of Health.

More than 600 volunteers from across Serbia are participating. The competition includes 15 youth teams and 15 junior teams representing 19 municipalities and cities. These teams qualified for the national stage following victories in municipal, city, provincial, and inter-regional competitions.

During the opening ceremony, Red Cross President Dragan Radovanović noted the significance of the event coinciding with the organization’s 150th anniversary. Participants are tasked with managing simulated accidents and injuries occurring in traffic, workplaces, sports, and other daily scenarios. The organization reports that over 3,000 children and young people across Serbia participate in first aid training to master these vital skills.
