Red Cross paramedics assist in emergency birth inside rescue vehicle

A baby named Livia was born inside a Red Cross rescue vehicle in the St. Georgen am Walde area on August 15.

While being transported to a hospital, the labor progressed rapidly, making it impossible to wait for arrival at the clinic. Paramedics Andreas Brunner and Sarah Farthofer, along with the Perg emergency doctor team and the father, Christian, managed the delivery. The birth was completed shortly before 11:00 AM.

Christian Geirhofer, the district manager for the Red Cross in Perg, noted that the moment was extraordinary for the emergency responders. Following the birth, both mother and daughter received professional medical care and were successfully transported to the hospital. The rescue team later visited the family at their home.
