Red Fort security tightened with AI and 20,000 personnel
Extensive security measures have been implemented across Delhi and Noida to ensure safety during India's 80th Independence Day celebrations. At the Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hoist the national flag and address the nation, a multi-layered security perimeter has been established. Approximately 15,000 to 20,000 personnel, including NSG commandos, SWAT teams, snipers, and SPG officers, are deployed.
Security at the Red Fort heavily utilizes advanced technology, including over 1,000 IP CCTV cameras equipped with AI-based video analytics and facial recognition systems (FRS). These systems are monitored via a dedicated control room to identify suspicious activities or crowd issues. Additionally, anti-drone detection and prevention systems have been installed to manage aerial threats.
In the surrounding regions, Delhi and Noida police are on high alert, particularly at key borders such as the DND Flyway, Kalindi Kunj, and Chilla Border. Joint teams are conducting continuous vehicle inspections, and a total ban on unauthorized drone flights is in effect. Security personnel are also monitoring high-rise buildings in the area to maintain surveillance over all ground and aerial activities.
