Red Hat OpenShift Earns Third Gartner Leader Spot; AI Coding Assistant Cuts Upgrade Time

Red Hat OpenShift has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud‑Native Application Platforms, marking its third consecutive year in the Leaders quadrant. The recognition underscores the platform’s ability to run containers, virtual machines and AI workloads across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments, with managed service options on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud as well as self‑managed on‑premises deployments.

Separately, Red Hat’s IT AI Platforms team used an AI coding assistant to upgrade OpenShift AI from version 2.25.5 to 3.3.2. The AI‑driven approach reduced the projected six‑month effort for a three‑to‑four‑engineer team to about eight weeks with a single engineer, achieving roughly a 60% reduction in engineering effort while maintaining zero data loss and minimal service disruption.
